Vice President of Business Development

Role Description:

Reporting to the President and working closely with the entire team, the VP of Business Development is charged with driving net new business for Spear and securing new clients. The role requires a strong background and a track record of success in sales and business development in a B2B and/or professional services setting, particularly working with senior level decision makers. The ideal candidate will have a unique ability to build relationships and develop networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting for new clients through social media, email outreach, and other channels
  • Maintaining an active presence on social media to drive engagement and interest in Spear
  • Responding to, and following up with, new inbound leads to Spear
  • Working closely with client services to ensure a smooth and productive handoff from sales to the account team
  • Maintain an accurate reporting of current sales pipeline to inform company management, operations, and client services.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years in a sales or business development role in professional services, B2B media or related fields
  • Proven aptitude for social selling and leveraging social media to drive engagement
  • Working knowledge of B2B marketing, demand generation, paid media, ABM and related disciplines
  • Working knowledge of the B2B technology space, enough to speak intelligently with a prospective client about their business, marketing goals, etc.
  • Strong leadership capability and relationship management skills
  • Ability to grow and maintain relationship with any individual, irrespective of the background and type of personality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in the context of sales presentations
  • Strong creativity and critical thinking abilities, including an ability to understand a variety of business models, product categories, and technologies
  • Ability to work with sales applications relating to daily tasks (e.g. Salesforce, Salesloft, LinkedIn Navigator)
  • Strong detail-orientation and top level self organization
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Compensation Plan:

This role is heavily commission-based, with a strong focus on performance.
